Too much oil??

I had my oil changed by my local dealer and he told me he put
12 quarts in. I told him the capacity was 11 quarts but he said 11 quarts read low so he added one more. He also told me this is the first 2003 CTD he ever did an oil change on.
The dipstick reads right at the full mark. Is 12 quarts too much?? Should I drain a quart??
Thanks for the help.

Re:Too much oil??

The oil capacity is 11qts with a filter change.
The excess will probably work it's way out through the breather.

Re:Too much oil??

When I change mine(Oil & Filter), 11 quarts puts it right on the full mark after running for a minute to completely fill the oil filter.
I always pour the 1st quart from the gallon container into an empty 1 qt oil bottle so I don't overfill.

Re:Too much oil??

Hehehehehe...couldn't agree with you more about the Torque/Sealant Monkeys. I needed a breaker bar to loosen my differential plug - got it out and saw the threads (same thing with the cover bolts) were covered with grey RTV. Real nice of them.
