A few minutes ago I was accelerating away from a light when my throttle dropped to the floor. Initially I thought the cable broke, but then I realized that it still worked... it's just EXTREMELY easy to press. It's so easy that it's hard to even drive because of the irregularities of even the smoothest roads are enough to bounce your foot around.

I pulled the linkage manually and it is also moves with hardly any resistance. All springs on the linkage look good and in one piece. Any ideas? Is it something within the pump?

 

Well, I took the throttle linkage off and the arm that controls the linkage that's below the AFC housing moves REALLY easily, too. All springs are intact, so it appears that the issue is probably inside the p-pump. Is there a throttle return spring in there that could have broken?

There two, one inside the other.

 

There are two springs. One goes from the linkage to the throttle cable bracket. The other is attached to the linkage that is farther back on the p-pump. Neither have a spring inside of them. Should there be???
