Terrible squeak in steering column!

How do I get rid of it? It happens within 180 degrees of straight ahead. I have tried silicone spray all over the steering column and still squeaks.

Any ideas?

Probably the clockspring getting ready to fail.
You're probably still under warranty, let the dealer deal with it.

 

I figured that as well. I already had it replaced at 35,000. I am now at 78,000.

Found it...it was the transmission linkage.

Marine, Just read this post. I have this problem as well. Did you grease the transmission linkage? What part of the transmission should I be looking at and what kind of grease did you use. Thanks. Mine just started at 64000 miles.

 

Look for the shift rod that runs from the body to the transmission. This rod will connect to the steering column @ the body side & the valve body on the trans side. Lube both pivot joints (1 on each end) and the problem will most likely go away.

 

It is back! I am going to try the lube on the shaft that MLR1 mentioned, then I will try the fuel line fix for it from J Body.
