steering and brake problems

steering and brake problems
okay heres what happend went mud bogging lats night at about 2in the morning and me and a buddy of mine was drag raceing trough a field and out of no where come about a 1 foot deep ditch well lets say i didnt have time to slow down we hit the ditch at about 45 mph and hit perrty hard well now my steering is messing up and my brakes are acting real funny like the steering you can be turning at low rpms and lose p/s and then stoping you go to hit the breaks nuttihn press harder and they bout lock up can yall give me any advice it would be really helpful thinks.

Wow, that sounds pretty bad;
Have you gotten under the rig to survey the damage? I would bet that the think should NOT be driven until you see what's left of the steering / suspension / brakes....

everthing is fine its just the steering and the brakes not working but other then that its all fine i spent 3 hours under it yesterday makeing sure everthing was ok and it all is fine and the steering and brakes work fine when my rpms are up but when my rpms arte low no p/s or brakes

Sounds like a hydro boost problem. Were '01s vacuum or hydro boost?
Check your power steering reservoir level. Do you have any leaks in the PS hoses? Did you run through water/mud deep enough to get in the PS fluid? It may be contaminated now. If so, you may want to consider flushing the system.

Could it be some kinda vacuum boost line came off or leaking for the brakes. As for the power steering check to see how loose the belt is or warped pully. Also check the pitman arm. See if it bent. Once you build up power and move the truck the pump can easily move the tires. Plus once it is rolling tires turn a lot easier. So check for a bent steering link. And the brakes check all vacuum lines

i checked all lines and all steering rods none bent and checked vac.and now i have come to believe that my p/s pump has bit the dust says must of diesel mechs around here in nc so now i got the pump off man that was i job so i hope that is the probelm..and thinks for all the great advice and also yes the breaks are hydro boost and that why everyone is saying my my p/s pump so i got one on order so we will see what happens!!!

heard that oaky guys i really appreciate all the advice yall have gave me i really do this is one great site!!!now i got my new p/s pump and doing the insatll now i haveing a hard time geting the vaccum pump gear and the p/s pump gear lined up is there any advice yall can give me on this step??
