Steering

Just wondering, i just bought a new 04 dodge 1 ton and the steering is weird, compared to my old 02 2500....i can only turn 1 full turn and can not drive into a parking lot if my life depends on it.... is there an ajustment for this.? or is that just the way they are.?
i have 315 75 17 on it.

hope someone can answer

I had the same question a week ago and no one seem to have a answer that amounted to anything. I would like to know the same thing because my dads 05 and my friends 05 can turn on a dime but my 04 will not.

Have you checked to see what is stopping the front tires from turning to full lock?

Something has to be blocking the linkage. Has the truck been lifted? Aftermarket diff cover? Strange noises from the pump? Parked steering effort normal?

Does it do it in both directions?

A LOT of people are running the same size tire that you are, and I've not heard of your issue - is there something in your tire/rim set up? Are you getting any rubbing, or just a hard-stop when you rotate to either max position? SOMETHING must be stopping the linkage, perhaps someone with an 04 can chime in about their lock-to-lock motion?

Like above comment sounds like something binding or stopping the wheel from a full turn. My 04 seems to have about the same turn radius of wifes 04 PT Cruiser. Excellent turning but can't tell you how many turns lock to lock till I get broken truck back late tomorrow.

Somebody could have put a different pitman arm on it to compensate for the wide tires. Usually people only change it if it's been lifted. Measure your arm and go to the parts house and measure the length and drop to see if it matches. It's worth a shot. The stop for the steering is in the gear box so I doubt anyone changed that (if you even can.)
