Perhaps the smaller wires going to the starter are corroded or not connected.
Could also be a bad key switch.

there was only one wire and it was clean, also the yellow wire from the ignition has "power" but i'm not sure about amps ( gauge doesnt work ).

Does the yellow wire only have power when you turn the key to start?

Use a jumper cable from batt. pos. and touch other end to the starters large cable at starter [ not solinoid ] motor should spin , then put jumper to large cable at solinoid , then small jumper wire from pos. to start connector on solinoid .
If started does not spin when pos. put to starter then starter motor bad , but if it does spin then go on to solinoid and if jumping does not work , then solinoid is bad , if every thing works ,then bad things are in the truck .

im assuming ur gettign the occasional "click click" syndrome....u gotta replace the contacts inside the starter...they look like this:

http://www.fostertruck.com/dodge/default.htm

u can get them at any starter/electrical place...just bring them one and they will match it up...cost me 10$ for both and 10$ for the plunger...or tell them the name of the starter...NIPPON whatevr....the switch is easy the biggest PITA is removing the top bolt when ur taking the starter off the rest is easy....i did this last winter
