Started to run really ruff

I was driving to MN and when I got to the state line the truck was leaking a oily rusty fluid. Recently my a/c had stop blowing air but the blower motor was running. After the a/c dumped a bunch of water it started working. I just ignored it but it has been releasing a lot of water whenever I stop and and turn the a/c. Knowing that I thought that the fluid that drained in MN was from the a/c compressor. I continued to my destination with my a/c off and when I arrived and let the truck idle to cool down it began to idle very rough. Since then I have replaced the fuel filter and it did not change anything. The fluid that it is leaking looks like the red radiator fluid but with an oily feel. Any ideas.

Just looked and there is no radiator fluid in the resorvoir or the radiator itself.

Did your temperature gauge rise during the trip?

First thing you need to do is after it cools, get the radiator level full and start it to find the leak, perhaps it is something simple like a hose or coolant tube, perhaps it is a head gasket or worse, you wont know until you get some fluid in there.

It has nothing to do with the AC though, so forget that.

Find where it is leaking and get back to us.

Heater core? Water pump? Too many possibilities to guess. Need to fill it back up and find out where it is actually coming out.

I know there is an issue with a rubber hose (coolant) near the turbo on the passenger side of the block. Sometimes it loosens up and will leak....but that may be only on the 06's....

Also look for a crack in the thermostat housing! Those can be a little tricky to find. I have had one do that in the past.

The first delership I took it to up here said that the engine was ruined. They could not work on it due to the fact that their equipment could not handle the size of the truck. They said it was o.k. to drive so I drove it to the next delearship whom they recommended. (also, topped of the antifreeze and started leaking.) The truck run just fine and it turned out to be the water pump and the engine was not ruined. My gauges never showed any temp. above the normal 185-190 when everything went wrong. Thanks for everyones help. Under warranty and only cost 100 bucks.
