sqeek in right rear

My truck sounds like the right rear is squeeking it is most noticable when slowing down then it gets louder when you press the brake then stops and comes back if that makes sense. I thought it was a brake pad problem but that didnt help. Could it be a bearing and if so how do I go about fixing it? its an 01.5

Do you have a 2 piece drive line? if so it could be your carier bearing....the support between the front and back segment of the rear drive line.

sometimes it sqeaks without touching the brake then I barely touch the brake it gets loud and if I push the pedal hard it goes away for a second. I just stopped using the ebrake and didnt get the squeal, so I am thinking a brake problem any tips on diagnosing it?

Have you checked your U-joint. I just changed a dry one this weekend that was squeeking.

Take a look at it real quick. Should be evident if bad, check for play. You might be surprized the way some noises resinate through these vehicles. if not one more thing to cross off.

it was the front pads but when I took off the right tire and loosened the caliper the rotor was moving around it didnt do this on the drivers side is this a concern? It doesnt squeek and stops much better. Also lost a small amount of fluid up top when I was squeezing the caliper in.

Your rotor is bolted to the hub, so the bearings are probably loose. Should repack them with grease with the brake job anyway.
