Unhappy Serpentine belt routing/installation

Hey, my belt snapped this morning, and I spent most of the day picking the shredded pieces out of the pulleys, cuz they were wrapped several times around the main pulley. There is no diagram for routing the belt, and while I've found one diagram on the web, it could be right or it could be wrong. When I went to install the new belt, I threaded it around and in front of the fan and was all set to run it through the pulleys when I snagged the belt on some kind of bracket on the bottom of the fan, which prevented me from getting the belt all the way around it, and to the pulleys. My Chilton's manual is absolutely no help, neither is my Hayne's manual, which unhelpfully says to 'refer to the routing diagram' on the truck (which does not exist). Neither manual says anything about this stupid bracket being in the way. Anyone have any advice?

D'oh. 05 3500 CTD w/AC. I'm going to try what you mentioned and route the belt around the pulleys as you described and hopefully AROUND the central fan shaft rather then try to thread the belt in front of the fan.
