Reverse lights, falied inspection!!!

I went to have my truck inspected, and had never notice that my reverse lights dont work. if i jack with the shifter enough they will flash on and off. It is a 99 2500 auto. It has always seemed to be a little off in the column, but now I have a short anount of time to get it fixed or I gotta pay for another inspection. Anyone know of an adjustment to be made???????????

well, youcould quick fix it with a switch of some kind. Just wire hot to the wires that need to be hot to make them light, then you have time to get them fixed later on. Just shooting something out there for you.

Could be in the column or it could just be the switch on the tranny....Have you checked or replaced the switch on the tranny?

Had the same problem with my 98.5,replaced the nutral-safety switch on the tramsmission, solved my problem. This switch also controlls the backup lights. You can use a jumper on two of the three wires, green and brown I think.Turn the key on ,If it's the neutral-safety switch, lights should work.If you change the switch,be aware that it is below the fluid level.I lost about a quart .Also don't forget the metal washer. Good Luck!

cool. Mine started doing this after I had my tranny installed. So I didnt think the switch would be bad, unless it got damaged during the swap over?

Just had to replace mine Sunday. On mine I had to remove one tranny pan bolt, unscrew the old sensor (1" socket), change the washer to the new switch, and reinstall. Then reinstall the tranny pan bolt. All said and done not a hard job, but definately messy.

Would jacking up the driver side of the truck help to minimize the leakage?
