From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
OD piston may not be indexed into dowels. OD spaced and bearing may be mispositioned. Splines may have become misaligned at overrunning clutch inside gear train. There is special aligning tool at dealerships that is more critical than a intermediate shaft.
Sometimes it takes a little wiggling and wrestling to get it the last 1/4 inch.

You can also take the clip off of the park rod on the top of the valve body and move thr rod forward. It is a real pain, but it can be done. Move the park rod forward and then put the overdrive on. After geting a few bolts snugged up, rotate the rear shaft until the park rod will go back into place.

You'll most likely need these and a good sized press to get your OD unit so it can be installed. Trans shop or dealer may do it for you for a small $$.
