Re:rear end trouble
Sounds like it could be a few things.
Without better "noise description", it could be carrier bearings, or pinion bearings. Could be gear wear. Could be that the clutches have worn out, and "welded" together, thus allowing little slippage when cornering.
Bottom line is find a good shop, and get it in for repair,(bring your wallet), before it gives totally up, and breaks more parts, while leaving you stranded.
Most folks don't have the tools, knowledge, or patience to properly set a Dana carrier. Difficult, but once done right, it'll last for a long time.
Re:rear end trouble
Sticking carrier clutch plates/discs usually make a popping or ratchet sound when turning, if incorrect/insufficient limited slip additive is used (on the Dana's). Mine did that when I changed fluid & did not use Chrysler additive. I know it sounds silly, but when I put in the correct (Dodge)additive, the noise stopped. Also, make sure to use enough - too little won't let the plates/discs slip enough. If you have a constant growling in a turn, I would suspect a carrier bearing, possibly a hub bearing.
Just my .02...

Good luck,
-Scott
Re:rear end trouble
if u didnt buy ur rig new, someone may have welded the clutch packs together to make it act like a spool, (not the best idea in the world for obvious reasons, lol), ive seen others do this and breakage is usually the result, might be wrong, just thought id give my 2 cents and agree with BigK
