Read codes, HELP!

Read the codes in my 98.5 24V and this is what it says, P0216 Fuel Inj Pump Timing Failure. Im guessing thats bad, can you tell me how bad? I drove it about 700 miles this weekend and had a dead pedal probably 7 times. Thanks for the help, Lin.

Your probably gonna need a new injection pump...i think they are about $1200. I had that code about 5000 miles ago and its still running strong...I just cleared it and no problems after that...most people dont have the same luck though.

Update: Put in the new style in the tank lift pump and had the valves adjusted. Started great, drove it about 40 miles and had dead pedal. Read codes and inj. pump out of time again. They are putting in a new one tomorrow. Have the option of putting in Marine Injectors. I already have the Superchips unit installed. Do you think the Marine Inj. will be worth it or hurt it. Thanks for the help, Lin

Lin, I wish you would have read all the threads about the intank pump before putting that in ..intank isnt the best idea, IMO. A better route is to get a Vulcan lift pump relocation kit and relocate the OEM lift pump.

If you get a fuel pressure guage...it can save you the cost of a VP. A very big saving, at least to me.

Let's see....Schryver....Il.. Wheels up Valiant perhaps?? Sorry to hear about the in tank fuel pump. I did a few at work, but only ones that were still under warranty. I even did mine back when I still had coverage, but with my mods I was able to pull the fuel psi dang near to zero pulling grades with the race rig. On customer rides I've been installing the NAPA lift pump as the old school one is no longer available from DC (you can get it about everywhere else though...) I went back to the stock setup. On the super chips....I'm partial to the Edge EZ. Same bang as the Super, but with the added boost fooling capabilities. The "marine" injectors I'm assuming are the RV 275's (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). I added them to mine back in Oct. Love the pulling power.....but I hurt my trans so now I'm needing to upgrade in that department. Be ready to upgrade your trans if you put much more to it.
