PWR Steering/Vacuum pump

I am in the process of replacing the gaskets in my power steering to Vacuum pump and Vacuum pump to engine block. Dodge gave me the wrong gasket for the steering to vacuum section though

But, inside the vacuum pump on the gear side that mounts to the engine block. I notice that there are 4 flat plastic pieces that look like they are suppose to move slightly up against the side of the wall of that section to seal it better as the gearrotates around (it is a offset rotation). I only have 1 of those 4 plastic pieces moving. Would that mean that they are worn and I am not getting full vacuum? Should I replace them some how and who would have those plastic wedges?

Since I do not have any o-rings to replace in the connection section (actually look like a square-ring) can I just use gasket sealer to make up for that difference? I ask because the oil was leaking from between the pump and the vacuum sections. Just trying to clean that up to stop it from leaking.

Truck is apart waiting for responses so I will check back. Time to clean block and do some painting.

Thanks.

Scott

Well, truck is back up and running. I took out those plastic pieces and they were all the same length so they must all extend out as it spins around compared to hitting some type of cam forcing them out. I put permatex instead of replacing the gaskets as they didn't look to bad and I knew I didn't have any replacement for them since dealer goofed. I don't see any oil leaking out and just placed about 25 miles on it. I will monitor for the weekend and hopefully it all works out just fine.

Thanks.

Centrifigual force is what provides the seal for the vanes in the pump against the housing.

She needs to be spinning to work ..

Glad you got it all back together..
