From what the guy said {person selling me this tuner} the thing is in between tunes . Calll tech support at Diablo and they couln"t get it going. Truck is in the shop Could't tell the service tech exactly what happed just told him the truck just shut down while driving {fear of warranty not being covered} Service tech isn't exactly sure whats wrong .Truck is in the shop since Monday. I need my truck back since I do hotshot with it. Any suggestions or commments???

Are you sure the Predator you tried was for the right year truck?

Why don’t you just tow it to a Cummins dealer and pay them to flash your ECM? Tell them anything as long as they flash it right. I use Predator Power inline chip so it don't program your ECM and have that kind of problem. It has been working great for 2 years now. It has a switch to turn it to towing, performance, or off.

Good luck
Mark
I trust Cummins dealers on my engines over a Dodge dealers any day. Engine parts are far cheaper there as well. :|

The truck is at the Dodge dealer. Hoping to get the work done as a warranty issue. What happened on the computer? Is the computer still useable??? Will they be able to reflash it using the same computer and off hand how much are we looking at??

what happened to "you play, you pay"? i think you should not try to get the dealer to pay for your attempted power upgrades, that amounts to thievery.....

If the DRB can still get into the ECM yes they should be able to flash it. I priced a new ECM for my 2005 and it was around 1400 from a dealership but I was lucky my wiring short didn't kill my ECM. If your dealer sees that it was hosed by your uploader EEEEPPPPPPP. Some will kill your warrenty on the spot others will just want you to pay for the repairs. I hope you get one that will work with you on it. Dodge takes their dealers word of if it is warrenty or not. I called Dodge about this once because I've had some dealers refuse to do things under warrenty that I took the trucks to another dealers who did the repairs under warrenty. Just going to a Cummins dealer you'd get a better diesel mechcanic. Never let them know you have a uploader.

He's not saying you play around for a living, read his post with a more open mind...he's saying YOU chose to 'get a little more power' so YOU should own up to the responsibility of YOUR actions and pay for YOUR mistake...not the dealer pay under warranty. Besides, I would imagine(having never seen any of these power mods personally) there are cautions in the provided instructions when you bought the thing that advised you of possible difficulties, sort of a 'Use at your own risk' kind of statement, right? You DID read the instructions prior to installation/use...didn't you? Of course, I tend to agree with Johnh, but as noted many times in the forums, it seems in today's world everyone wants to shirk reponsibility and place blame/liability on someone else, right? Not flaming you nor passing judgment, just clarifying what Johnh meant and agreeing with his comment. In any event, I hope you get your truck operating quickly so you don't continue to lose revenue! And you may have learned a lesson(hopefully)? Good luck to you!

I have been using the Predator now for over a year but with my Pontiac GTO. I had to find out the hard way that the Predator was the correct part number but not the right firmware version. On a GM vehicle it will wipe the VIN number and security key from the ECM. Ask the dealer to see if they can pull up the VIN within the ECM if they can then check the security key. Once I had the correct firmware never had the problem again. Hope this helps.

Predator should be responsible if it caused the problem and if someone sold you the incorrect one they should be responsible. I don't take responsibilty for wrecking my truck if the new tires I put on it failed and caused an accident. Now if you put the Predator on your truck and burn up your tranny because of to much power then it is your responsibility. One thing that really burned my rear is when I purchased my truck the dealer had a programmer, exhaust and some other power mods the were "warranty approved" but were rediculously priced. They would like to get in on the action too, they just price it so if something does go wrong, you paid for the repair when you purchased the programmer. Personally, I don't mess with the electronics. Intake, exhaust, cam, turbo etc., etc. are all fine but messing with the computer has always seemed to be a risk to me therefore I only upgrade the hard parts.

This is to clarify what happened on the Predator installation. Throught the classifieds of the Diesel Truck Resouce I attempted to purchase a used Predator/Puck tuner. Met up with the person selling the tuner and he attemped to install the tow tune. The tow tune could not be completed with some kind of code. At that very moment I got a calll from my dispatch for a load and instructed the guy to put everthing back to stock because I had to go. He couldn't get it to do so. I know its my responsibility and should be responsible for your actions, under the cercumstances what would you do

I think you have to make sure you get the correct tune for the calid the programmer identifies when it loads info from the ECM through the OBD2 port. It's not one program fits all 03-05 trucks. If you don't then destruction can happen. I would think the dealer could load the stock program back in there with little to no trouble. Hopefully you'll be fine. Did you talk to DiabloSport directly?

Did he load his stock tune back to his truck before he downloaded it to your truck?
