Power Steering Leak

I have two problems in one. My powersteering fluid is leaking...I think that it might just be the cap...I'm gonna check that out tomorrow. The other part to the problem is that when I removed the cap the fluid appeared to be foamy...which is, and im just guessing here, a bad thing. Any ideas what might have caused either of these problems?

Basicly your power steering system is a hydrualic system.
Foaming in any hydraulic system can be indicative of a few different things.
Most common are water in the fluid or air trapped in the system.
If you have a leaking hose or resivouir, air can be pulled into the lines and cause foaming.
Over heating can also cause foaming as can over filling the system.

Try purging the system, drain and refill the resivouir and leave the cap off, turn the wheel from stop to stop several times to purge the air out.
of course replace/tighten any loose or leaking lines first.
