Power loss on hills- zero for 2 on vacation pulls
Power loss on hills- zero for 2 on vacation pulls
??? Last year truck ran on cruise from FL to PA.pulling 3000# camper. On hills turbo kicked in and I got plenty of power. Unfortunately low speed gears wouldn't pull, lost trans. in gettysburg. Great dealer Colonial dodge. New trans. ran great on cruise all the way back. This week end departed going through alabama, the truck ran great but on hills it ran like a gas motor. No power 1800 rpm 63 mph at half throttle, full throttle makes no difference. Didn't hear the turbo kick in like I use to. If I pushed the gas trying to make it go, milage is cut in half. Ran 500 miles without trailer while gone runs great.
All the way home only half throttle working. Any ideas?
If you have a 12v...

No turbo means no fuel... I would check your t-fitting that goes into the back of the AFC housing on your pump. If it's leaking boos then you're not gonna be getting much power or turbo boost. The line that runs from the turbo to the pump is what you need to check. It's a start.
Re:Power loss on hills- zero for 2 on vacation pulls
Low fuel pressure can cause low boost and half throttle performance when pulling a grade. I had the same situation and it was caused by a weak tranfer/lift pump. A weak overflow valve can also give the same poor performance.
You didn't mention smoke or higher egts which you wouldn't likely have with low fuel. Heavy fueling and low boost would create smoke and heat.
I would also add checking filter and fuel pressure to what Superduty recommended.
