ok here we go i bought this truck 3 weeks ago. its a 00 ram 2500 SLT ext cab. turbo diesel 4X4.. The starter started going so i got another. well when i replaced it. the truck started about 3 times, then nothing. turned over but that was it. After about 5 minutes of trying the starter burned out again. Also when it did start i had to hold the gas pedal.. Is the fuel pump going bad causing this? Also what would cause the starter to burn out so fast?? Last and final question anyone have a starter and / or fuel pump for sale???
Thanks
Thanks

Yikes! I've never heard of a starter burning up in a few tries. I had to replace the starter contacts on mine and all is good after 200K miles. Sounds like the starter relay might be bad.
Having to hold the pedal down is not a good sign. Sounds like your injection pump may be weak.
You need to get a fuel pressure guage installed to monitor the lift pump.

I agree with Geico, the lift pump fuel pressure needs checking. The motor should start nearly as soon as you turn the key. Fuel pressure checking kits are available at most auto parts stores. My picture gallery has pics of this.
Speaking of key...turn the keyswitch on-off-on-off-on then look at your odometer and write any code numbers that are displayed & we'll discuss them.
