In a pinch

Ok my truck is a 01' and has a bad map sensor, the dealer and cummins are out of this sensor, my question is can I run an earlier model say 00' with the different plug? I have the adapter plugs from my Van Aaken to make the transition. The parts guy at Cummins says their was a design change in the senso to aid in high alt. startup on the 01'. I can live without that if I can get the sensor to work.

01' P#3417030

00' P#3348747

Anyone try this?

Thanks,
GREG

Using the older style Sensor works fine, just carefully verify your voltage beforehand and tag the power lead so you do not accidently get to ground and cook your ECM.

If you drive short trips at high altitudes with the older sensor your fuel mileage may drop a bit, and you can have hard starting in cold weather at altitudes over 4500 feet.
