I have a 2000 4x4 with a 6 speed. Stock apart from BHAF. <br>I am seeing some high teperatures with light loads. A couple of times the last days I have had a burning smell from the truck. It has never overheated before. Weather is not very cold, but well below freezing. What gives? &gt;

 

Mine did the same thing back in the summer. I changed the thermo. It was stuck. No problems now.

 

Thanks for your thoughts, they run on the same lines as mine did. I can only monitor the water temp, and it is only a litle over 90-c, but it always ran cool, even under much warmer weather and with much heavier loads. The needle would stay steady, and now it moves with the straighn until it gets a little over 90 c and then cools down. It reminds me of what my early 1989 was like when I got it. They had faulty thermostats, and had to have the block opened for a larger replacement. Could get real hot in the summer and ran too cool in the winter. Now, after 600 000 km of tough work, it still runs strong and cool. Cant say the new one is stronger. Best truck I ever had. <br><br>I will change the termostat a.s.p. and report back. I dont think I will be happy with a 180 since I live right on the artic circle in northern Norway.I will try a higher one.
