overdrive not working?

At 70 mph, taking overdrive off has no effect on engine rpm. Could my od not be on at all? At this speed rpm is 2100. Truck has auto trans.

Re:overdrive not working?

sounds like your OD off button is not working 2100 is the right RPM for that speed, the only other thing i'm thinking is it has a saftey not to go out of OD because of the speed it would probably redline the engne.

DRecu!

BTW why are you trying to take OD off @ 70 MPH?

Re:overdrive not working?

drecu your dead on about the safety on the switch. Mine won't do it either. 70 mph in 3rd gear is about 2800. 80-85 is 3200.

Re:overdrive not working?

does ur cruise control work? If not u may have a bad speed disatnce sensor. it will not give u OD but cruise will also not work.
