ok i'm lost... don't what it could be now. (Long)
i had a bad head gasket so i put a new one in it (stock for now) didn't do the valves just left them where they was set at. it seemed to run fine till i shut it off and it wouldn't start no matter what i did. reset all the valves and it started and ran better than ever. put a clutch in today everything was going great so it seemed took it for a short drive, ran great, went to take a little longer drive and as luck has it something else goes wrong. i dunno what it is, i got ideas but i'm not for sure. i was doing approx. 50 mph started to ease into it to pass a car, got out beside the car and it just started popping out the exhaust kinda like i had a jake brake on it or something, i hit the clutch and it died and will not start now. it just cranks and smokes white real bad. Any clues? First thing that came to mind is timing but i don't know.
no it had been sitting for 3 days when i set them. i was wondering about them also, i'll check them in the morn and see what i find. would the valve make it pop like that? as it was being chained home i said what the heck and threw it in gear to see if it would run and it did it just popped like crazy
Update
Well i checked all the valves and they seem to be set right. Intake 10 and exhaust 20. Also pulled the front cover checked the timing there and at the pump pin it all looks good. thinks its possible it just blew that new gasket right back out? im clueless at this point.

If you think the heads not the problem, disconnect the pre-heaters and try an alternative fuel source. You could have a fuel issue, either supply to or from the pump. Crank sensor is a possibility too.

On your's, I don't know for sure. Should be either right on the front, next to the harmonic balancer or on the rear. Check any wiring that you had to remove to get the head off. It might be something as simple as a bad connection. Run down all the simple stuff before you start pulling parts.
she trys to start but just wont i don't understand
UPDATE!! W/?'s
Well we thought it might have been gas or water or something in the fuel. So i did the line in a can thing and it seems to try to start better than before. It's blowin a gray'ish (sometimes almost black) smoke now but still no start.... Could i have bent some valves due to being so tight after the hg change? I gutted the AFC after the hg change also, could that have hurt the pump? I've tryed to pop start it ad all it does is bellow like blueish, white, gray smoke. Someone got an idea?
