oil cap left off

oil cap left off

could anyone provide some info on what should now be done since the dealer left the oil cap off after they did an oil change and i have been driving the truck since. Any suggestions would be helpful, i will be contacting the dealer tomorrow...

I would want them to make a note of their negligence in case of a problem, and I'd want them to change it again for free. That said, it's doubtful any great harm was done. Unlike gassers, diesels don't pull air through the crankcase and into the intake. So it's not likely that much dirt got in, it would have to fall in. It's just aggravating when "professionals" make such basic stupid mistakes.

That happened to me on the wife's car. Had them note it in the records and professionally clean the engine.

I learned a long time ago to check everything and everybody. I check under the hood and the interior after any service from anyone. After loosing a center hub-cap one time, I even check all of them after a tire rotation.
