Noise coming from underneath

In the exhaust before the muffler there is this large looking can that sounds like some large ball bearings are loose in it. It looks like a catalylic converter. I have 70,000 miles on an 04.5 6.9 quad cab.

Question, does Dodge cover this itme if in fact it is bad or do I just go to a muffler shop and get raped?

Thanks
Randy

Got it fixed. It was the big round catalytic converter.

I had hit a road gator a few weeks back and apparently it had slapped the crap out of the can and broke apart the material inside.

Just put a pipe in it's place.

I noticed that my MPG at 70mph increased by 2 mpg! It is now getting 26.4 mpg at 70mph!

I also have a BD triple threat on the tow/economy setting.

The only thing I noticed besides the MPG increase is an increase in diesel fumes idlinig.

Just get rid of that exhaust system & put in a 4inch straight pipe. That's how a Cummins runs best.
