no power lots of smoke-

Truck starts up fine-alittle balck smoke while idling. Press the accelerator and she'll rev up to about 1500-tons of white smoke-if it were a gasser I'd say it was out of timming! Shakes, misses and will go no higher on rpm-in park or drive. Just put in an FASS (just pump) thinking it might have been the fuel pump on the way out. Did not help. Anyone experience a similar situation?

would a fuel filter cause the engine to blow all that white smoke and cause the engine to act like it is missing?

What's the chance there is gasoline in the tank instead of diesel?
