No power

I have a 92 1st.Gen 12v that has no power at all. It starts fine, but has no power, I just hold the pedal to the floor. (except to stop) Eventuality I can reach a top speed of about 60 mph. (70 down hill in O.D.) This truck has just over 290,000 miles on it. The last 1000 or so I put on. It doesn't smoke but sounds like it might have a miss. I guess I need some help on where to start looking for the problem.

Re:No power

First check your fuel filter and then i think there is a screen on your mechanical pump and on your pickup in the tank. Might test the mechanical fuel pump to make sure its working properly. When was the last time your valves were adjusted to that might help also.

Re:No power

It's a pretty safe bet that if you test the fuel pressure you will find that old common poblem of the lift pump. It will leave you with enough power to drive, but not much more and other than no power everything else works just fine.

Re:No power

I just aquired this truck through some horse trading. I didn't drive it before I did the trade so I have virtually no history on this truck. I did change the fuel filter, and I know the oil had been changed, but as far as other maintenance, such as valve adjustments, injection pump work, KDP mod, turbo or tranny work etc.,I haven't a clue. Thanks for the advice, that gives me a starting place.
