new vp and inj

if any of you have seen my recent posts, I have been doing somewhat of an overhaul in the last few days.

It started the other day with a dead truck, giving me the deap IP codes.
Right now I have installed the CAI, stage 5 nozzles, and a new IP. When I go to start it, i get the exact same result. No start. Am I missing something?? Anyone have any tips that I may be overlooking?? I can really use the help at the moment... Is it possible at all that the lp is causing this?? I just replaced it 6 months ago... I am going to be installing the FASS kit next weekend. Should I wait and just do that, or buy a LP and try it out? I really would love to hear it run tomorrow. Any ideas would be priceless. thanks

Is the current lift pump working? If it's in any kind of shape, it should be enough to at least get the engine running. If it is in fact pumping, it may take 5-6 starter bump cycles to get the air bled from the lines. You also may have to crack a couple of injector lines to get it started. It'll run like crap for a minute or two, until all the air in the lines is gone. HTH

you dont need the lift pump to start the truck. Make sure you have all the air out of the lines before you do anything else. Also is it just cranking or does it feel like it wants to start.

Shouldn't need to.. Do you get fuel from any of the first ones?

How long are you cranking for.. I know some will give up after a few cycles..

The few times ive had the fuel system open on my truck its taken me probably combined cranking of about a minute to fire it up.. Open injectors crank 5 seconds at a tiem for a few cycles till fuel comes out.. tighten up and repeat.

Do 24 valves have a fuel shut off solenoid like the 12 valves? If so, is it operating?

JD 730 about a week after i purchased my truck it gave me a no start problem. What was happining was that the lift pump was sending to much pressure to the injection pump when i was trying to start it. I talk to cummins technical line and they said it has happend before when people had the VP and lift pump changed out before. Which the guy i bought the truck from had done before i bought the truck. The ecm somehow got a hiccup in it. To start the truck cummins technical told me to unplug the lift pump and let the VP start the truck. After i got the truck started i got the dealer to reflash the pcm and never had that problem again. If you are just trying to start the truck it is fine but it is not ok the drive it like that.

Oh are you doing this by yourself you with a buddy. If not when you stop cranking you could be sucking air back in.
