Need help lowering spare

I have a flat (obviously). I was working in my garage and heard a pop. The darn front valve stem blew. 03 dually w/ stock badyears. Well, I need new tires so I thought no problem until...I went to lower the spare. It seems the winch for the spare takes a almost lugnut type key in the tube to turn it. I tried to insert my jack extensions but they are square and the tube is round. I changed my 2nd gen numerious times, no prob. 1st time for 3rd gen & I need help bad. Did my truck come with the wrong extension set? Please help. Thanks.

Is there a round type jack extension hidden anywhere in a 03 dually? The tube from the back bumper to the spare tire winch is round, it had a black plastic cap I had to pry off on it. The darn extension in my jack kit is square. I'm sweating in this nasty GA heat trying to figure this out. Can anyone please check their 3rd gen to see if the tube going to the spare winch is round and/or if their jack extensions are the square type. Thanks.

Help, anyone. I need to fix this tonight. The jack extensions I have are square where they snap together. They won't fit down the spare lowering mechanism tube above the back bumper. Also, it looks like there is a special attachment/key need to turn the actual mechanism. I shined a flashlight down the tube and it resembles one of those locking lugnuts where one needs a special key to get it off.

- not sure if your tube has been rounded out from use? If the immediate question is how to get the spare down, you might see if you can get some vice grips on the tube edge, or look into the tube and see if there is a keyway-type slot into which a screwdriver might fit...

....not sure how a round tube is supposed to "grab" something so that it may be turned....

- good luck!

I'm sitting here thinking of when I changed my 2nd gen tires out and I remember the extension for that truck was round with a pattern at the end that goes into the spare lowering winch/mechanism. This is the same type pattern I see when I look down the tube. The problem is my extension do not have a pattern at the end of them. The tube/shaft to the lowering mechanism is round by design. I have never used it before (my fault for not checking earlier). I wish I could get this down now before my front tire is completely flat. I know this has to be a screw up on Dodge's part. Either wrong lowering mechanism on my 3rd gen or wrong extensions installed with jack.
