need firewall computer bad

need firewall computer bad

My computer on the passenger firewall took a crap. I'm needing one bad. Any ideas other than the dealer? What years interchange? Thanks

I don't think any years interchange and even if you buy one from the dealer it has to reprogrammed for your specific truck by them.

The PCM (firewall comp) is a very stout item that rarely fails. Many are replaced needlessly.

Try to find another rig to swap with to guarantee yours is bad.
Try it both ways, his in your truck and yours in his.
When swapping the years and tranny types don't matter as much but some functions may not work. It will tell you if yours is indeed bad though.

Call these guys, I'm sure about the PCM. I bought a ECU from them in the past with no troubles. hxxp://www.autocomputerexchange.com

ECMs are easy to get because they fail quite often.
I was told by a place that remanufactures automotive computers that the older Ram PCMs aren't available because they don't have cores since they rarely fail.
They would rebuild your PCM but the turn around was quite long and the price quite high.
Sometimes junkyards can get them for you though.
