I know on my '97 I had to remove a relay and put a jumper wire in. Make sure you don't need to do this too or you'll end up setting a code and the trans will go into "fail-safe" mode, 3rd gear and reverse only.

Do it, you will love it.
I did my dad's 96 3500 with a lock up position, an unlocked position, and a stock position. Works great. I added a red LED for the locked position, and a green LED for the stock position. Parts to do this was 9.00.

thanks guys...im gonna fix that up on the weekend...i was wondering for those who have it..when ur shifting gears..do u already need for the converter to be locked up in order for the switch to work and keep it locked?? or can the switch be used as a "force-lockup" type of feature....lets say in the future i have another bad TPS and cant lock-up in overdrive...hitting that button will cause a forced lockup up or no....know what i mean??
The switch will lockup the TC regardless of the situation in the gears 2,3 and OD. The tranny will still be able to do upshifts. If, for example, you sit at a redlight and put the switch to on and start out the following will happen: 1st, 2nd in lockup, then 3 and OD all locked up, no unlock during the shifts. Rather abusive on the tranny!

yeah i dont plan on ripping it through the gears while its locked up...but it sure is a nice feature to have if im gonna be on the interstate for a few hours straight and dont wanna hear that ridiculous unlocking while driving at the same speed constantly....so im looking forward to it
I think I have this problem
I was on my way to pick up a trailer and the engine stumbled and the trans jump out of over drive. Now i only have 3 &4 gear and the OD button doesn't work. Can you tell me what to look for.

Just a thought !!!
You could put in 2 relays on that lockup line, so when you put it in lockup the relay goes on, but if you hit the brakes (for a stop), the relay would automatically go off. You would need to have 2 momentary push buttons, 1 for on, and 1 for off, or a Double pole, Double throw, momentary switch, (DPDT) with center off.
You can have red/green leds for either on or off on it also.
That would automatically stop lockups on stopping when you couldn't react quick enough or forgot to turn it off.

bill: If you have the lock-unlock problem at cruising speed you should look into a noise filter for the APPS signal to the PCM. (Offered by DTT and some others, a wire relocation kit is also mentioned on the forums)
This should make your lockup circuit operable and reliable again.
