Need ECM
I keep getting a check engine light. I reset, it comes back on instantly. My computer says my intake air temp is 293 degrees. It was 5 degrees outside. I dont think it is my TPS, plus I dont get a tps code. Do you still think it is my TPS after the symptoms I have? Bob Wagner is trying to find a ECM for me. I am trying to be patient.
If you are getting codes other than those associated with the TPS you may need the ECM. However, unless you have been jump starting other vehicles or welding on your truck with the battery grounds connected I would first check to be sure you have not accidently grounded the temperature sensor wire, the battery temp sensor wire, or the AC pressure sensor wire. If any of those go to direct ground it upsets the 5.8 volt bus in the ECM and will create the problem you describe. Here is a rebuilder that likely has exchange units 1-888-664-8787, or these guys will 1-800-557-8674 should you need an ECM.
