I have a 2001 HO 6spd. Tonight on my way it popped and lost all throttle but was still idling. (It felt like the throttle cable broke) and the CEL came on. Lckily there was a gas station right there and I idled into it. I pulled the cover off the lift pump and checked the cable and everything is pretty normal. I cranked it back up and hit the throttle, it hesitated for a second then reved up. It was running fine and the throttle was a little more touchy. The engine light is still on but the truck ran completely normal the entire way home. Is there any way to check the codes without an obd computer? I am clueless as to what happened?
The second thing is that I have had the truck for about 6 months and the motor mounts have always felt like they had a lot of play and were almost dead. Well lately it started to get really bad as in I couldn't just hit the brake to shut off cruise control because it felt like the engine was gonna come through the frame. I put brand new oem left and right mounts on it this weekend. The mounts that came off of the truck did not look blown at all. They looked pretty normal but I did change them. It got a lot better but the new mounts don't feel good in any way. It feels like there is a ton of slop the motor mounts and this drives me absolutly insane. Bad motor mounts and exhaust leaks are serious pet peeves (spelling ?) of mine. The transmission mount looks good and everything in the driveline is tight. Is there anything that I can do to cure this? Please help it is driving me nuts? I was doing the rear brakes at the same time and the rear axle felt like it had a lot of slop? I changed the fluid a couple weeks ago and it looked normal but I didn't inspect the gears for wear. I guess I need to pop the cover off and check them but it is whining at all and the LSD works surprisingly well. The help is greatly apreciated.

I agree on the TPS causing the throttle problem. Do a search and find the reset procedure.

Sorry, I don't know about the motor mounts.

The TPS or APPS is most likely your problem with the loud pedal. Heres the link to the tech page for the reset procedure. This will usually look after things.

If it presists, maybe a new APPS. chu ching. Some have reported success with a cleaning. Might be worth a try.

I'm not sure on the drive line. Kind of a subjective thing when people talk about "loose this or that" and "play".

Maybe some experiance will chime in.

Don't know too much about the 02's but sound to me as a bad Off-idle circuit in that it doesn't run smooth and motor mounts. YOu say that idles smooth so that part sounds good. How is power? does it seem to thump when idling it up?

 

The CEL went off last night and everything is running normal.
It idles good and smooth. What do you mean by thump off idle? I am just going to go play on the lathe and make my own motor mounts to take care of that problem.
