motor cuts out when exellerating

This started a couple of weeks ago. But doesnt do it every time. When exellerating the motor will go flat (stop exellerating but no die just goes flat) Yesterday pulling a large trailer I berrialy made it home, It would keep going flat every time I tried to exellerate then id let off and it would go for a few soconds more. When I got home The motor wouldnt even rev up clean it would sputter and blow black smoke. Today it revs up fine??? Installed a new lift pump and fuel filter 12000 miles. Could I need new injectors ? Truck is a 99 24V with 140000 miles. Any suggestions. Thanks

Please tell me that's a typo and you mean 120,000 miles.

If it isn't a typo, I'd definitely suspect the fuel filter!

Seriously.. Is the turbo working fine?

If you installed a new filter at 12000 and now you have 140000 I would have to say you are slightly over due for a new fuel filter. Tha'ts 128000 miles on a fuel filter. Not good!!

12000 is a bit long for a fuel filter, IMHO.

I change mine every 10k, cheap insurance for a happy VP44.

You might have got a bad load of fuel and the filter is choked with dirt or algae.

Checking that is almost free.

I'm leaning towards the VP44 dying though.
Lift pump was replaced, so obviously it was bad, how long it was bad will weigh heavily on the lifespan of the injection pump.

Yes I changed filter 12000 ago.
No mater I just ran a diognostic check with my superchips programer and it came up with one code P0216 Fuel injection pump timing failure. Now I dont know does this mean its just something with the timing on the pump or is the injection pump going out? My luck i need a VP44 and that sucks $1100.00 could be more go fast parts on the drag quad.
