Question Missing Oil

This is really weird. The other day I checked my oil, cause my gauge was moving a bit, and it was pretty low. Filled it back up, and I just checked it 5 minutes ago, and it was a QUART low! now, this is only with maybe 50 miles or so. I definitely would have noticed that much oil being burnt and coming out the tailpipe. The exhaust is still clear. I don't see any leaks when I park on pavement. Any ideas? maybe leaking by the turbo? This is kinda scary

(1)Pull the intake hose on the turbo and check for any oily residue on the fins. Pull the output hose and check for any oil on the output side.

(2)Check your coolant for any signs of oil in it.

Well, here is the scoop- It was pretty low when I checked it first, so I filled it, then two days later it was a quart low, so I filled it again. Both times the engine wasn't hot, but not cold (about 2-3 hours after shut down). I just checked it after I got home today, and it was a little overfilled? The oil shouldn't shrink up that much, should it? I am going to start over with a fresh change on Sat., and see what happens from there. For now I got some oil dye to see if it is leaking somewhere. no oil on the turbo, I'll check the coolant when she cools a bit. Very right now.

Matt, Not to sound dumb or anything, was the truck on an incline when you checked the oil? A quart low on one of these is really not a big deal. After you change your oil let us know how it is going. Maybe after we retime your truck it will be like a new truck again!!

Never checked it out but it's said a 12 valve injection pump takes a couple hours with the engine off to drain totally. It holds close to a quart. I always check my oil after it sits all night, 12 qts is just a little above full on the stick.

That sounds pretty logical to me. I must have just checked it at the wrong time or something No evidence of oil anywhere, I am doing the oil dye right now, just to make sure.
