I had to remove the yellow girdle piece and reinstall it, because it was folding in and stopping the plug from going in all the way

By Map Plug, are you referring to the MAP Sensor?

If so, I don't think Map Sensors use a red tab to lock the connection in place. It's a push in connection where the little tab locks up in the female connection.

mine does. the harness plug has that red tad on it to lock the connection.

and thats my problem. that tab will not lock for nothing. it wont lock on the edge comp harness either so i know its not the map sensor plug thats bad.

is the clip stretched to where it won't lock over the tab? i would try using a binder clip to hold the clip down over the tab

I would have to look at mine to see exactly how it connects
