Cool Loss in power or acceleration

As I am driving down the highway at speeds from 40mph to 70mph i losse power or loss of acceleration and have to press the accelerator excessively, to regain speed. I have a clean fuel filter and air filter. I have used lucas fuel treatment and still having this problem.

All suggestion welcome, thanks

Additional information:
2002 Dodge 2500 2wheel drive 5.9liter diesel no mods at this time other than a K&N airfilter. Automatic trans. 105,000 miles. I bought this truck with 53,000miles and it is in very good condition. This is really the only intermitten problem I've had since i purchase this truck. I pull a goose neck trailer on a daily basics and am looking to mod this truck to improve it's fuel performance, currently getting 10.5 to 11mpg.

....no gauges? Fuel pressure is pretty critical for these rigs, low FP WILL kill the injection pump, so monitoring is not an optional task....

Dead Pedal syndrome can typically be traced to an APPS that needs to be reset or fuel starvation, the latter from either a lift pump going bad ($100 -$150), or an injection pump on the way out ($1100 - $1500)- make no mistake, if the LP is marginal for very long it will kill the injection pump.

....recommend you get a FP monitor in place and determine if this is a fueling issue - pronto!

Let us know of your progress and findings -

Rauschbo

Edit: What is the transmission doing during the loss of acceleration?

check for codes using the key on (not start, just on), key off, key on, key off, key on, and watch your milage on your odometer it will give you any codes stored in the ecm and pcu. let it go back to your milage before turning it back off. and get back to us.
