Loss of power
I'm new to this forum. I think it's great for you guys to help out with problems fellow truck owners have. Mine is loss of power. I have a 91 D-250 I bought new. The last couple of years I have noticed that the power of my truck has gone away. I have 140000 miles on it. I have never had the valves adjusted. When new it would fly off the line, now I have to stay behind a Hugo[ or any thing thats gas] at red lights because they will always beat me till I sift into fith gear and get to about fifty five. I would appreciate any advice.

It is critical the first and second generation engines have the valves adjusted every 20,000 miles. What happens is the exhaust valves work back into their seats and will tighten up so much that they will no longer close. That can lead to burned valves.
The valves are very easy to adjust, and should take an inexperienced person less than an hour to complete if they follow the directions.

Loss of power
Thanks RCW I have a repair manual that says how to adjust the valves. I guess I could probably do it myself, if it's that easy. Will it help me with the power problem?
