Installed different engine, power is way down.

So my 90 CTD dropped #6 about 6 months ago. I found a 91 engine with 122,000 rounds. I swapped everything over and even put the smaller 16mm exhaust housing on it.

After the initial fire up bumpiness it has alot less power. Feels like it is just not right. Injection pump timing is correct.

The AFC (anneroid) pre boost fuel screw was turned way in before the last motor blew and it still is. I used to notice alot of smoke at start up and leaving stop signs. There is no more smoke.

I wonder if my lift pump went to heck?

Everything? Injection pump? lift pump? injectors? ...

Was the 91 engine intercooled or not? The intercooled engine will have smaller injectors tips.

Nope did not switch the injectors. Should have but my old injectors were shot.

I swapped the pump over. I went and put the old 18cm housing on tonight hoping it would cure it. I knew the injectors were smaller on the intercooled motors a while ago, I forgot.

Is the size difference my problem. It just feels lazy, like midrange just flattens out.

If it is injectors I need to buy a new set.

Well, good thing you didn't switch injectors. Non-intercooled injectors are 9mm diameter and intercooled injectors are 7mm in diameter.

Bosch 190's or POD's are probably your cheapest options.

Well the last motor had a leaky injector which took the motor down.
