Im in need of serious diesel help

People of the Diesel Truck Resource

My name is Jake Murphy im new to the whole diesel world of life, a better life yes but a very confuseing one for me. I know nothing about diesels, i bought a 2001 dodge ram 2500 short bed quad cab, it has 65000 miles on it. Has an Edge (EZ) yeah i know edge isnt the greatest. K&N, Magnaflow exhaust, two fuel lift pumps, 4in lift and 33's. Great truck, but now it doesnt want to work.

The engine acts like fuel is not being deliverd, boging out. It did this on thursday of last week and i couldent get out of the parking lot 70miles from home. Battled my warenty people then got ****** and said well ill try it again. The truck started right up and drove home like a champ. The next morning i took it to the local Dodge dealership to see whats wrong (70 plus miles away) when i get there the truck still is acting normal, they hook it up to run a diagnostics on it, found no codes. Said i could not have any codes showing because of the Edge. So i disconected the edge and 3 days later it happens again (150 miles later). The mechanics said fuel pressure was very high, spikeing there testing equpiment. Fuel flow wasent an issue, my fuel filter was changed maybe 5000 miles ago at the MOST. I tried givin the truck some gas and white smoke poured out then went away. Oil level is full, changed 1200miles ago. WHAT IS MY PROBLEM

Im about to deploy to the middle east next month, my wife is killin me about geting our only vehicle fixed. Which needs to be driven to Seattle from Barstow. please someone help this lost diesel man

key on, key off, three time leaving it on the last time, and watch you odometer, and see if there are codes now. Some times the Injection pump will fail, and not throw a code. sould like a dieing vp 44 to me sorry to have to tell you that, BUT

You don't have to go from ACC to On, just from the Off position to On, leaving it in the On position on the third time.

Off -> On -> Off -> On -> Off -> On then the codes will flash in the odometer window. If there are no codes, it will show P done
