A buddy of mine has a 2000 diesel and he just had a new inj pump and a new lift pump put in last summer. Fast forward to 4 weeks ago the truck will not idol it will just idol up then down and die. He has it in the shop right now and they are just trying to figure out whats wrong with it. They have checked the turbo it was making a whine it was not it as of now the inj pump is on its way back to oregon injection to have it bench tested again. Any help would be awesome thanks guys


P.S there is no mods to this truck bone stock no gauges no nothing just 150k on the clock.

 

whelp we just figured it out what was wrong with the truck. The local gas distributor came out too fill his 500 gallon diesel tank which had about 300 gallons diesel left and they pumped 200 gallons of reg unleaded into the 300 gallons and because the diesel is heavier it did not come to play tell it got low enough. So now the gas company is having to buy him a new motor and having to empty his 500 gallon tank and clean his tank.

 

Good to hear they are making things right. It sounds like he is getting out pretty good on the deal too.

 

The kicker is that the guy who filled it is his brother in law So him of all people should have known it was a diesel tank. Just have to see now what they are going to do about it. He has had his truck in the shop for about 3 weeks now or more possibly 4.
