How many qts ATF4 do I need??????

Hey Guys,

I'm adjusting my bands and changing my tranny oil tomorrow [Sat.], I have forgotten how many qts of tranny fluid I need.

Anyone remember?

2002 with 47re

Thanks.

edit, I am talking about just a tranny pan drop and drain. If any of you know how to drain more of the oil than just dropping the pan I sure would appreciate someone explaining how to do it.

Thanks again.

A simple drain and refill is 4 quarts.

I would have six handy. If you want to get more fluid simply loosen the valve body mounting bolts so the body can drop down slightly and it will drain quite a bit of fluid.

Ok thanks guys,

I ended up using 5.5 qts. I tried 4qts and it wouldn't shift into gear. checked the fluid level and added 1.5 more and i'm good to go.

Thanks again.
