I put a Holly blue "pusher pump" on about 2 years ago. It lasted about a year, the second one lasted about a year. I put one on a week ago, last night my pressure went to 0. When stopped and restarted the truck it came back on, a few miles down the road it did the same thing. This continued for the whole trip home. My FP would drop and then come up. This is how these pumps seem to act the day before it fails entirely. I thought this was strange as the pump was put on last week.
This morning I get in and the same thing happend but I noticed a difference, the heater fan was cutting out at the same time as the pump. I check the fuses and they are fine. I started the truck and drove to work "about an hour drive" and no problems. Is there a relay or something that is dying? Any thoughts?

 

probably just the grid heaters cycling causing the fan to speed up and slow down, not related to you pump problems.

 

Something might be killing them. Mine's been running strong (knock on wood) for a little over a year now. 15 at idle and 11 at WOT with the comp on 5x5 and 275's.

 

Holley Blue is a popular pump at the race track. I've seen quite a few over the years looking for spare pumps or holley blue parts. Had one on mine years ago and it took a dump on me. No way I'd consider using one on a vehicle I actually had to depend on.

 

What would you consider using?

 

This may sound dumb but have your batteries checked and your alternator. It sounds like you have electrical issues, one of your batteries may have died.

I am thinking that you might be on to somthing there. A few things have been acting funny. I will check this out.

 

I have gone through one blue and one black and now I back to a Holley blue. The blacks cost too much to toss out every year. They seem to run strong for about a year and then the bronze bushing seizes up. I'd be open to a better pump that woule last.

 

Yeah, I still haven removed the dead factory lift pump, so the Holley is pushing through it. I have some hight flow banjos from wildcat, I just haven't tore into it yet.


I agree, my dad wants me to try a summit pump. I guess I will keep experimenting till I can afford a FASS. I figured out the issue. I had the pump on the same fuse as the blower. I moved it to another spot and put in an inline fuse.

 

Holley supposedly redesigned their fuel pumps within the last year to be compatible with diesel fuels. I put a filter before the pump to make mine last longer, will see. Voltage is only part of the game, need to make sure it can draw the amperage needed to run the pump without burning it up.

Where did you plug in your pump to draw power?

 

Tengu I used a relay to the battery, only using the original lift pump wire (+) to trigger the relay.
