Help! Trying to bleed air from fuel lines...
Just installed a new lift pump (second time) and of course it wouldn't start after bleeding air from the lines to the filter housing AND the IP. So, I've cracked the lines at all the cylinders except #2 (since I don't have a wrench that can get in there) and it still won't catch. I've only gotten a dribble of fuel coming from #3.
What's the deal?!

If you have shop air, you can crack the lines and with a rag put the air nozzle into the gas tank until it comes out all over the place at the lines. Just make sure you turn the air down to a safe level, most of it will leak past the rag.
This is how alot of guys do it on the 12 valves.

I don't have shop air so can't try that. Is there any reason other than air that I can't get fuel to come out at the cracked lines? There's for sure fuel making it to the IP 'cause I checked again. I have #'s 1, 3 and 4 cracked and I've been bumping like crazy with nothing coming through!

i agree, is a big help to have someone else there with you to crank it over as you watch the lines and as fuel comes out each one, tighten them up as the start to pump fuel. The engine will probably fire on..once you have 3 cylinders bled I believe, if not then keep cracking the other 3...and then it will start and clear it's self out. I believe my truck started to sputter on the 2nd tightened line...so it started to crank really fast(still had to crank it over) and once the 3rd was bled and tightened, it ran rough for awhile then cleared itself out. Good Luck

You should only need to crack one injector line. You'll then need to crank it over. With luck, it will start in less than 30 seconds. If not, let the starter cool for a while, 5-10 minutes, before the next 30 second start.
In my experience, with an empty injector pump (just replaced the VP44), with one line cracked it will start within 30 seconds and run rough until you tighten the cracked line. It still may run rough for a minute or two, as it works the rest of the air out of the lines.
