Help!!! Truck Dies on Freeway

06 truck keeps dying on the freeway. Did it this morning on the way to work right in the middle of rush hour. Very embarrasing!!!!

Driving normal and all of the sudden the truck just dies. Has done it a total of 3 times in the last month or so all on the freeway just cruising along. This morning it would not restart for about 5 minutes and when it did it started out real rough and blew lots of smoke. And I mean lots of smoke. The idle settled out and the truck ran just fine. This time I was on the gas going uphill that was the only thing from the previous 2 times.

The previous 2 times the same thing it just dies while driving on the freeway and let off the gas to coast as there was traffic. Restarted after a few minutes with no codes showing. and ran just fine after it restarted.

Did the key trick to check for codes and there were none present. I am running the Quad X2 was thinking about pulling it as a last resort. I called quad and talked to Justin about this and he was positive that its not related to their module.

Are there codes that do not show up with the key trick? Just curious
Maybe its time to have the dealer take a look at it?

Thanks

I have heard of this before with the quad. Loose connection or chaffed wire will make the truck die. definitely try taking the box off or inspect the wiring.

From a tech point of view....on a issue like yours the first thing to go is the mods. Much easier to diag a stock truck than to try and work around something in which you have very little support info.
