You need a tie rod separater and a pitman arm puller and a socket or big wrench to fit the nut and thats about it.

Welcome to the board!

Could you describe your problem a little better? It will also help if you fill in your signature so we can see what model and year etc your truck is.

Sure ya can. If you can change a tire, you can change a pit man arm.

That is not entirely true. On my 04.5, the pitman arm was seized onto the sector shaft and I literally had to cut it off with a sawzall. I made 3 diagonal cuts into the pitman arm as deep as I could without touching the sector shaft, then I put a puller on it (after I broke the first puller in half!) and proceeded to tighten it down to about 200 ft.lbs. Then I hit the other end of the pitman arm with a sledge hammer and it FINALLY came off. It took me about 3 nights to get it off when it was all said and done. I tried heating it with my oxy/acetylene torch and that did not help.
What I am saying is, in theory, they are easy to change out. But if it is seized on, be prepared to work your butt off to change it out.

Of course, I remember taking my stock wheels off for the first time... they were seized to the hubs... So maybe it's true that if you can change a tire, you can change a pitman arm.
