Help, lots of water in oil....

Bought this 1997 4x4 auto as "project" truck.
Looks like it went into a lake partially.
Had no oil in case. Opened plug and at least 2 gallons of coolant came out.
Filled with new oil, changed filter. After several attempt to bleed pump (new fuel filter) finally got truck running.
White smoke, lots of water bubbling off radiator. Drained oil again and it was very gray with a lot of water in it still.

I am sure I will need a head gasket, but could I have a cracked block ?

Could it be just oil cooler >

My assumption is motor got temp shocked when got wet and warped head.

How can I notice a cracked block after pulling head ? Any particular area more prone to damage ?

I doubt it's a cracked block. These trucks are pretty freaking stout. I'd say take a look at the headgasket.

A few questions for you... Did it go down running? or was it secured just hot and rolled into the drink? The only way to correctly diagnose a suspect block is a good machine shop where they can boil it, and pressure test it with dye. The block is probably ok, just other little gremlins to chase down.

Also if the coolant has been in crankcase for a while you'll need new rod & main bearings , the chemicals in the coolant will eat the babit off of the bearings.

Thank you for the replies, I was sure these are tough blocks, but wanted somebody else's opinion.

I am going to replace head gasket, resurface head, and clean valve seats (as might as well).

Truck runs fine, I've been running it for a couple days, just it's missing on 1 injector and has not much power, I believe head gasket is REALLY gone very bad.

I'll post the results when I'll be done.
