95 auto cummins,, tach goes to zero,tranny comes out of over drive,all the idiot lights come on in the dash and the charging stops charging..

try the crank position sensor. worked for me.

I had the same problem. The crank sensor blew but for some reason it took the computer with it. The truck stop charging and nothing work on Dash. Oh yeah and they are not cheap. I would recomend bringing to the dealer because they have more than one listed for the year. And dealers do not like taking back special order parts. So if you get the wrong one dealers do not want a part that has been installed back if it is electrical. I understand it is easy to change out. But at 700 a whack pay the dealer to install it

 

try the crank pos sensor first. it is less than $100 at dealer. if your friend has the time, there are places that will rebuild your PCM for alot less than 700! with a 1yr. warranty. it is just a matter of a connector and if I remember, 4 small bolts. you will have to remove air filter box.
