I can't figure out what's going on with my pickup, the battery started dying on me a couple months ago and i swapped it out and it was ok for a while, then i replaced the plunger and contacts on the starter solenoid which helped then i stopped driving it for a while cause it kept dying and 3 days ago i put in a new alternator and a second battery, it worked for 2 days and it still keeps dying and i don't know what the next move is... any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys, i hate having my rig just sit...

 

sounds like you have a drain on the battery , something left on , could be as simple as the glove box light sw.
You need to use an amp meter to see how much power is being pulled off the batt while ing is turned off .
Then pull fuses , fuse able links , till the large load goes , that should be where the current is going .
There are some loads always pulling , but very little , like the memory for the radio / clock .

Also, check to make sure the alternator is really charging. You wouldn't be the first to get a brand new bad alternator. Check the battery voltage with the engine running. It should stabilize around 14.4 volts, give or take a few tenths of a volt.

 

Replace your headlight switch and try again. Make sure the fuse box isn't corroded too. With dodge useing mixed metals, the cowl cracks above the fuse box and light switch and crap door seals, these trucks didn't have a lot of chaances. If it's still there, I'd test the starter again. They like to ground out against the block. Went through 3 autozone batteries because of a 1 year old auto zone starter. Now I only go there if oil is on sale cheap.

 

Take it to an electrical shop and be done with it. You will cause yourself a large amount of grief trying to fix by concensus over internet. have tried dragging several similiar issues to a conclusion by posting and just gave up.
