Cracking an injector on a common rail is a waste of time. The lines and fuel log are basically a "high pressure" resivior from which the injectors feed. You really need a scan tool to monitor the rail psi and set point while cranking for starters.

I would drain the filter and have a look at it to see if it looks ok. When did you last change the fuel filter? But if it is not even chugging could it be one of the sensors?

the truck was running flawlessly before ity wouldnt start so i doubt it is the fuel filter,i would think it would still start even if it was dirty, not sure of the sensors though

I have had my 2004.5 for almost 60k and have not had a problem. But I remember someone having a similar problem as yours and I think it was the cam sensor. The crank and cam sensor are a ***** to get to on the front of the engine. Had them off and back on when I installed my TST. Maybe worth just making sure they are seated well.

Is this the first time you have seen the codes?

Sounds fuel related... maybe you got a bad tank?
Since you checked your filter and lift pump...

What kind of key does the truck have? Some have had problems with the smart keys. I know of a local 06' CTD that only the wife's key will operate the truck. The husbands key is only good for unlocking the truck.

If it were the key then it wouldnt have started at all, he stated that it would run for a few seconds and die.
