Heated seats

My passanger heated seat is stuck on high, as soon as the truck starts the light on the switch is on in the high posistion. The seat gets hot but will not turn off, I pulled the relay in the fuse pannel for the time being which makes both seats non functional. Has anyone had a similar problem and know of a fix? I am at 70000 Km now and have no warranty. thanks in advance.

Pull the switch and take one wire off. If the seat stays cold then it probably is just a bad switch. For proof of the bad switch, with the ignition on and the seat switch off, touch the removed wire back on to the terminal you removed it from. If the switch is bad it will spark as you touch the wire to the terminal. If so, then replace the switch.

Easier than that swap the switches. If the DS acts the same you need a switch. Does the relay have contacts for both seats or a common one? Relay could be fried closed if it has dual contacts.

OK situation went from bad to worse. Yesterday the drivers side seat would come on before the truck was started, it would light up as soon as the key was turned to the ACC posistion, but the seat would not warm up and the light on the passenger side seat will not light up at all. This morning the light for the drivers side now rapidly flashes for 30 seconds then shuts off. Does anyone have a solution, or should I move somewhere where heated seats are rendered useless?
A wiring diagram sure would help if anyone has one. Thanks

I suspect that the relay is the only common denominator between the two seats so if both seats are now affected then I would suggest you pull the relay and check it. Let us know if you need help in checking it.

Thumbs down

Its WAYYY worse now!!!! The other morning I opened my truck door to a cloud of smoke and the smell of electrical fire. The smoke was comming from under the drivers seat. It turned out to be the electrical connection that sits on the carpet, I now have a burn in my carpet, no power seats, no heated seats and my seat is all the way back (my legs are not that long) I am currently 10000KM over warranty but Im trying to get Dodge to pay for repairs (wish me luck) As far as I am concerned this is a saftey issue as a fuse should have burnt before the wiring caught fire. Any suggestions would help. Thanks in advance.
